Monmouthshire sits proudly on a fine piece of land that borders the River Usk. The course was founded way back in 1892 making it ones of Wales' oldest established golf clubs. The clubhouse is actually located in a site of an historic medieval manor house.
Life began at Monmouthshire Golf Club with nine holes and after the locals lost interest in the adjacent racecourse permission was granted to extend to the full 18 holes.
The man whose job was to make Monmouthshire the course it is today was James Braid, the prolific Scot who created Gleneagles.
